The first time I made the Nigerian buns I cannot believe how easy it is to make one though came out good but it was dry, so I had to make some adjustment on the recipe to get the exact taste and texture I was looking for. Growing up this tasty snack is one of the cheapest snacks you can buy around, every kiosk always has one. I am glad I can now make it on my own. The best part is that my kids love them.
3 cups of flour
1 stick of butter
½ cup of sugar
1 tsp of salt
1 tsp of baking powder
1 tsp of nutmeg
1 tsp of vanilla
1 cup of milk
Vegetable oil (for deep frying)
In a mixer bowl add all the dry ingredients
Attach the dough hook, add the butter and mix until it forms fine bread crumbs
Add all the wet ingredients while mixer is still mixing; allow it to come together and form a soft ball
Make small balls and deep fry them on a low heat until it browns and you see cracks on the buns; then you know it is done.
